Tuskegee University's Cooperative Extension
Program. She is also the 4-H Club's advisor.
"Since the start of our Goaters 4-H club five
years ago, I have worked with children ages nine
to 17 who are interested in a health career. I find
that exposin~ them to learning activities that
are both scientific and fun allows them an oppor-
tunity to get an insight into health career
options and encourages them in the science.
especially biological sciences. Realizing that life
requires other skills as well in order to be suc-
cessful, the clubmembers compete in public
speaking contests, practice leadership skills, and
are encouraged to preparte articles tbr newspa-
per and organize exhibits," said Dr. Diffay.
Dr. James A. Ferguson, Dean of Tuskegee
University's SVM, is pleased that the School is
being represented during National Farm
Animals Awareness Week. He said, "I am espe-
cially pleased with the service Dr. Diffay is pro-
viding to the community as an advisor to these 4-
It Club members. Participating in this lecture is
a logical extension of her activities as the 4-H
Club advisor and an instructor in the
Department of Clinical Scienceg Large Animal
Services. Under her leadership, the Club has dis-
tinguished itself by the numerous awards it has
won with goat exhibits,"
The Macon County Extension System oversees
the function of the 4-H Club. Dr. Diffay said,
"Tuskegee University's SVM and 4H-ers' parents
have been very supportive of the Club's efforts;
however, we are always in need of additional
support. Should anyone wish to provide their
services or know of children who might want to
join the Tuskegee 4-H Veterinary Club, they
may contact John Pulliam at the County
Extension System office at (334) 727-0340."
Dr. Diffay is one of 10 veterinarians at
