More than 500 graduates ~ ~i/~ I~ T-ol and relatives of those who graduated from Macon County High School in Notasulga from the 1920s through the 1960s attend- ed "The Big Blast" reunion Saturday, Oct. 14, at the current Notasulga High School. They came from far and near--as far away as California and New York and as close as a few hun- dred yards down the road from the school. The program included introduction of classes by class presidents, a history of Macon County High School by current Notasulga High principal Robert Anderson, a 1960 graduate of MCHS, enter- tainment, singing and most important of all--fellowship as old classmates visited throughout the day. l ] Graduates and memories At the left, Coach Sam Cooper (who coached at Macon County High School in 1948-49) shares a laugh with Drue Ward Wright. '53, who, with her husband Doyal, coordinated "The Big Blast" reunion for Macon County High School. The wrights live in Lawrenceburg, Ind. Pictured above are Earl and Mattie Lou Zachary Akin, '49, as they enjoy a meal during the reunion. Miller is a retired engineer ~ho lives in Opelika and Towery is retired as Dean of Students at Ole Miss and lives in Oxford, :Miss. Coach Cooper resides in Hayneville. 0
