Washington played nearly a perfect football game last Friday in opening its season with a 27-0 victory over visiting Southside of Selma at Eagle Stadium on the BTW campus. "Our defense dominated and we played very consistently on offense for a first game," said BTW head coach Lonzo Bullie whose club was 4-6 in 1995. The defense's dominance was evident as the Golden Eagles limited the visitors to minus two yhrds rushing on 26 attempts. Southside man- aged only five completions in 19 pass attempts for 46 yards for only 44 yards total offense. BTW defenders picked off four passes and scored one touchdown on a short run by senior defensive lineman Terrance Waver. BTW had "steady" in his first start, Bullie Keys rushed six times for 57 yards for-15 passing for 91 yards with one and a touchdown strike of Dewarren 25 yards and hit Baldwin on a two- sion.
