The Taskegee News, March 22, 2018, Page A-7 r Local family sponsors students to see Black Panther The Steele Family of Macon County invited 100 students from Tuskegee Institute Middle School and Booker T. Washington High School on an arts education field trip. They sponsored the trip to the AMC Classic Auburn 14 movie the- atre, w.here students were invited to see The Black Panther movie. According to the Steele family, ' rhis movie gives each viewer vari- ous opportunities to see our black culture at its finest; from the visu- als, the actors, the story and the possibility to the reality of themes shown throughout the film, a stu- dent should walk away feeling proud of their heritage. And proud of themselves." The Macon County students at- tended the 11:30 a.m. showing on Saturday, March 10 and were pro- vided tickets and snacks. Thomas and Helen Steele raised their children in Tuskegee and en- rolled them in Tuskegee's public schools. Sponsors of this field trip, An- thony, Broderick, Kenya, Frantz and Malauna all appreciate the efforts of the Macon County school system as well as the Tuskegee community. They attribute their successes to this great foundation. This is an op- portunity for them to share their pride in their hometown with these future leaders.
